Mold / Black Mold / Mold Clean Up

Molds destroys buildings, devalues homes and causes expensive and often overlooked health issues. Touching or inhaling mold or mold spores can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Allergic reactions to mold are common Ñ these reactions can be immediate or delayed up to six hours.

Allergic reactions include:
  • Respiratory problems, such as cough, sneezing, wheezing, infection, and/or difficulty in breathing
  • Hay fever-type symptoms
  • Nose and throat irritation
  • Nasal or sinus congestion
  • Watery, reddened, or burning eyes
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Red eyes
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Dermatitis ( skin rash or irritation)
  • Headache
  • Fatigue

  • Length of exposure is a factor affecting severity of symptoms.

Standing water inside of a dark wall creates the perfect environment for mold to propagate. Hot water heater closets, underneath sinks and behind showers often hide growing problems. Without proper care, this growth will wreak havoc on your home or business.

Molds reproduce by spreading microscopic spores. Mold spores waft through the air continually; we are constantly exposed to them. When mold spores land on damp organic material, such as wood, paper, drywall, carpet, cellulose, rubber, etc., they may begin to grow, digesting the material. As mold grows it produces toxins according to its various species.

Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Stachybotrys and Trichoderma all produce mycotoxins capable of producing serious health problems. These toxins are responsible for health problems in humans and animals. They reproduce at an elevated rate when multiple species are present, as they seek to destroy each other.

    What is asbestos?

Asbestos is the name given to a number of naturally occurring fibrous silicate minerals that have been mined for their useful properties such as thermal insulation, chemical and thermal stability, and high tensile strength. Asbestos has been used by man since the time of the Greeks (it was woven into cloth). Why was it used? Asbestos is fireproof, very strong and cheap. Its easily dividable and durable fibers are ideal for use for strengthening drywall, plaster and adhesives. Asbestos fireproofs pipes and insulates attics. Is was used in plaster for strength, and even woven into fireproof coats for firefighters How is it harmful? Asbestos fibers are inhaled and lodge themselves in the lungs. Our lungs lack the capacity to break down or otherwise remove the fibers. The agitation rips and scars the inside of the lungs. To see a picture of asbestos scarred lungs click here.

Prolonged exposure to asbestos can result in:
